Get notified of followup comments via email
Written by Alexander on August 20th, 2008I love to comment on other people blogs. I usually spend more time commenting on other peoples blogs then posting on my own blog. What I find nasty is that not every blog has the option to get notified by email when a new comment has been added to the post where you’ve already commented. Getting automatically notified by mail, has two strong advantages:
- for the commenter, to optimize the time he spends online, as long as he goes back to a post only when he knows that a new comment has been added;
- for the blog author, to be sure that a potential dialogue in the comments doesn’t fail to take place due only the fact that a previous commenter doesn’t know that a new opinion has been submitted.
There is a simple Wordpress plugin called Subscribe To Comments by Mark Jaquith, which allows you to add a
I wonder why this feature isn’t directly built in Wordpress. I would be happy if beautifull blogs like that of my favourite coder Cybercoder or that of the inspirational blogger Upstart Blogger, would make use of this plugin.

I too agree. It should be a built in feature inside wordpress . Just like akismet is there.

That is right. It should be a built in feature inside wordpress, but it should not be checked. The commenter should only checked it. In some blogs I comment in, the subscribe to comment is checked and that means I have to receive other comments in my email.
